Did you know? In 1789 George Washington was hesitant to run for office as the first President of the United States of America. He was the unanimous
first choice of the electors. John Adams was elected Vice President. His inaugural speech was held at Federal Hall in New York City, the nations's first capitol. On December 6, 1790 the United States Capitol moved from New York to Philadelphia, where it remains until the District of Columbia is completed in 1800.
